Moon colonies, helium-3 and future science: NASA's long-term goals after the Artemis II mission
NASA is preparing for Artemis II, which will send four astronauts around the Moon. The mission will test Orion’s life-support, navigation, and communication systems in preparation for future lunar landings.
Nasa has sent humans to the Moon for the first time in more than half a century. The Artemis 2 mission blasted off from Florida on Wednesday, carrying the four astronauts on a 10-day and 252,000 mile mission that will see them journey to the Moon.
The findings were published March 20 in the journal AGU Advances and were based on data recorded by Juno in 2021 and 2022, after NASA granted an extension to the spacecraft’s operations upon completing a five-year science campaign at Jupiter.
