Swiss authorities say they have opened an investigation into the managers of the bar where a fire at a New Year’s party left 40 people dead.

An official said the sparklers were attached to bottles of champagne held too close to the ceiling. Forty people died and more than 100 were injured. Many of the victims were teenagers.
"The Italian Golf Federation mourns the passing of Emanuele Galeppini, a young athlete who carried with him passion and genuine values," the federation said in a statement. Swiss authorities have said around 40 people died in the fire and more than 110 were injured.
Police initiated a criminal case over the inferno, which killed 40 and injured 119, and said they were focused on champagne sparklers, venue capacity and building materials.
