Auto Train, other than possibly contributing to Amtrak’s bottom line, does nothing else for the national network. It creates no connecting traffic, diverts Amtrak equipment and other resources away from the national network, and might even take away some passengers that might otherwise ride the regular trains to Florida and rent a car.

Amtrak phone agents are legendarily ignorant of field conditions. Recently, when the Maple Leaf started running through, I modified my November Niagara Falls -New York reservation to Toronto-New York. The agent said I'd be on a bus Toronto-Niagara Falls.
Amtrak may fall under "federal facility" but, when was the last time a terrorist attempted to hi-jack or bomb an Amtrak train? Just my opinion but, I don't think the TSA really cares what goes on on an Amtrak train.
Amtrak could decide to implement RealID but I haven’t explicitly seen this required. The State DMV scares people into getting a RealID even if they have one already. Passport, passport card, enhanced drivers license are all RealID as well as Global Entry, TSA Pre and trusted traveler programs and other forms of ID as listed as RealID compliant.
Does anyone know which train is used for the Floridian? Is it a superliner, viewliner, etc? Also, are there toilets in the rooms? Thanks so much. So excited for our trip in a couple weeks. Carol
